Some Interactive Fun in New Hope, PA
In Spring 2024, I spearheaded a project along with Prof. Chris Ault to bring an AR experience to the sculptures of New Hope, Pennsylvania. This project was a collaboration with the New Hope Arts Center and Hoverlay. Together, our class created unique immersive animations for six sculptures around the town. When a user downloads the Hoverlay app, they can scan the QR code and view the complementary 3D models and animations that our class created.
My role was to keep the experience consistent throughout each sculpture. To do this, I created mascots called "Dino Dogs" that appeared at each sculpture. The design is loosely based on Boomer the Dino Dog, one of the most iconic sculptures of New Hope. Other groups modified their own Dino Dogs to fit their sculpture better. For my group's sculpture, Windy Ribbon by Richard Pitts, I modeled 3D pinwheels in Blender and placed them around the sculpture to indicate wind and movement. My group members, Elias Ananiadis, Dom Forgen, and Luke Spota created additional particle effects in Unity and 2D textures for the pinwheels.
This project was featured on International Sculpture Day 2024 and demoed to the public in New Hope.
